In 2020, focus on Maëline !
Maëline was born in 2007 with a chromosomal deletion which results in intellectual disability, language and learning difficulties, balance problems and visual problems.
Because of these disorders, she has difficulty acquiring a certain degree of independence. Her parents try to make her forget her disability as much as possible. She is one of three children (one older brother and one younger sister). The other children do not have this disease.
Her parents, Virginie and Olivier, have both changed their professional lives to spend more time with their daughter.
The whole family is dynamic and tries to involve her in all activities, such as bike rides, but Maëline can only ride a tricycle because of her balance problems.
Maëline wanted an electric tricycle adapted to her disability so that she could share leisure time with her family.
Unfortunately, the Covid 19 epidemic forced the association to cancel the day planned for 14 June 2020, which was intended to raise funds for the purchase of Maëline's electric tricycle, but this was financed by Sourire de mômes' own funds for an amount of €2674.43.
Maëline and her family were also able to visit the Ile Longue base in Finistère in February 2022, thus fulfilling one of her dreams !
